Day 2 – Novena for the Feast of Our Lady of Mt Carmel

Because Carmel means ‘Garden of God’ this novena is entitled “Gardening Tips from the Garden of God.”

Today’s tip: working with little flowers.

Tears wash against the bottom of my heart as I hear you speak so lovingly of St.Therese and our Mother Mary. Even the tiniest of flowers can bring forth abundant beauty and fragrance. May we give time and thought to our Blessed Mother this day.

What attracted me to the Carmelites was their strong commitment to live and minister in community. As soon as I walked in the door, though, they brought out such treasures – Saint Teresa of Avila, Saint John of the Cross, Blessed Titus Brandsma, Saint Therese of Lisieux. I didn’t know! I feel like Aladdin in his cave. Thirty years and I’m still learning and discovering new and resplendent treasures.
