What attracted me to the Carmelites was their strong commitment to live and minister in community. As soon as I walked in the door, though, they brought out such treasures – Saint Teresa of Avila, Saint John of the Cross, Blessed Titus Brandsma, Saint Therese of Lisieux. I didn’t know! I feel like Aladdin in his cave. Thirty years and I’m still learning and discovering new and resplendent treasures.

This blog is to share these treasures with you. It’s arranged to correspond to the Cycle of Readings of the Common Lectionary with each post, containing a Carmelite gemstone, appearing one week ahead of the Lectionary. Yes, I’m hoping this will be a user-friendly resource for the Carmelite preacher, or if you’re looking for a daily reflection.
